Sand in the Anthropocene
Mette Bendixen
The Sand in the Anthropocene (GEOG 401) course for the winter semester at McGill has successfully concluded. Mette Bendixen and Lars Iversen adopted an interdisciplinary approach to examine aggregates from both local and global perspectives, integrating their expertise in physical geography and ecology. The course featured guest lectures from world-renowned aggregate experts, including Jim Best, Dhritiraj Sengupta, and Sarah Moser. The semester culminated in a symposium where students showcased their group research projects, demonstrating the modeling, analytical and academic writing skills they developed throughout the course. We are excited to see the contributions this new generation of sand researchers will make in the years to come!
